I have wanted to write an in depth diary as to why I am boycotting these Olympics and why I am amazed that the progressive/liberal/Democrat netroots have not called for a boycott, but... I have been way to busy.
So I leave you with some thoughts from a couple of comments I made on another diary.
"I am Boycotting these Olympics for many reasons.I will NOT give china and credit and praise for what they do. This reminds me of the Nazi Olympics, but with OUR support and money helping to showcase them as the new economic, and soon to be, military superpower."
...
"As you revel in the spectacle of the Olympics, I hope you think of a few things like...
Darfur/Sudan, of the mistreatment of lower end workers and slave labor, of the 2.3 million jobs lost from the USA to China during the bush regime, the 1.4 TRILLION dollars we OWE china, of Fulan Gong (sp?), of TIBET, and on and on and on...."
For Barack Obama to pick Tim Kaine as VP would be a HUGE slap in the face of most women, liberals and progressives. Kaine may have been a good choice for Democrats in his state but when it comes to some of the issues that are most important for the nations women, progressives, liberals and Democrats, he fails.
Kaine is "anti-choice". The whole term "pro-life" is just a cover for being anti-choice.
It seems we are having similar fundraising issues across this country. Have we democrats become a little complacent or are we just hitting our financial limits?
Rossi tops '04 fundraising
http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/seatt lepolitics/archives/144094.aspRepublican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi's campaign reported Tuesday that it has topped its fundraising total from the 2004 campaign, having now raised more than $6,254,035.80.
Rossi is again challenging Gov. Chris Gregoire, the Democrat who prevailed in '04 by 133 votes out of almost 3 million cast after two recounts and a court fight.
As of May 31 Gregoire had reported raising about $6.8 million.
I am not suggesting that Gov. Chris Gregoire is not raising money. I am suggesting that she should be doing better, much better! I do not see this as just a fault of her or her campaign, because in my opinion, this is also partly the fault of all of us.

I will start off with this. PLEASE do not rec'd this diary.
The following comes from an email my g/f received. The person who wrote this is extremely smart. When I say extremely.. I mean it.
He looks romantically and practically on Communism. He has been around the world and has been a real journalist for real newspapers. He has published books and is in contact with smart and important people all around the world.
He goes off on email rants like this often.
He and I do not always agree.
So... here it goes....
because we all need a break.
because we all need to have fun.
because we all need to smile.
because we all need to laugh.
because we all need to cry.
because the world is big.
because the world is small.
because sometimes we just need to just say fuck it, and dance.
Typical of most Americans and most people in modern society, we shorten the descriptive title and the meaning of important events and important days to remember.
I believe that we all refer to Independence Day as the 4th of July. In doing so, I believe we loose the real meaning of this day.
Thom Hartmann did a wonderful show the other day, where he dedicated the last hour of that show to the true meaning of what the 4th of July or Independence Day really stands for.
This is what July 4th, this Nation, the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution are all about.
Thom Hartmann hour 3 - 7/1/08 - KPOJ
The first half hour is split between his reading of the Declaration of Independence (in typical Thom style) and passages from his book "What Would Jefferson Do".
It should draw a tear from you as it did many of the callers (last half hour) and myself.

I thought I would post something that has nothing to do with politics.
The following video and song were uploaded 2 years ago. I was just reminded of it by my neice.

/06/music-brotherly-collaboration.html
It is a collaberation between her two brothers (my nephews). One is a self made "alt" musician and the other is a videographer.
I know... it is different, but I like it.
My daughter is one of the ballet dancers at about the 2 min mark.
I hope you enjoy this little break from politics. If not, then that is OK to. :)
